The top diving regions, the Andaman Island and the Eastern and Western Ghats, all fall into the tropical rainforest habitat category. India has over 8,000 kilometers (5,000 miles) of coastline and, depending on where on the coast you are, can offer all types of diving and marine life. The second most populous country in the world is known for many things, but what you may not realize is that being a great diving location is one of them. Located on the Indian Ocean, southern parts of the country’s peninsula and its surrounding islands are among the best diving spots in the world. The Andaman Islands, Goa, Palolem Beach, Netrani Island, and the east coast cities of Puducherry and Visakhapatnam offer world-class diving, coral reefs, and marine life. If remote islands are not your thing, diving in India is a great way to dive and still be in a place with big cities, history, and culture.
