Club Boat Dive

Alongside Aquatic Adventures we will be running some club boat dives. Exact locations will need to be decided likely the week before, so any reservations on these dives will be confirmed before bookings are considered finalised. The Aquaholics dive will likely incorporate some roving survey activities, making these good dives for photographers, and a great opportunity to expand our knowledge of our local waters. As per usual, guiding fees will not be charged to Aquaholics members ($20/dive for non-members), however charter fees are not covered under membership and will be payable prior to the dive(s).

WE AND THE SEA - PLASTIC IN THE SEA

The exhibition acts as a journey through time and is designed so that all stations can be explored on your own. We also want to offer guided tours in the future to bring this topic even closer to our visitors. Pictures, videos and many interactive games are designed to introduce both adults and children to this issue with all their senses. Our aim is not to admonish with a raised index finger, but rather to address and move each individual visitor. Various stations and projects show visitors that they themselves, as part of the big picture, can initiate the urgently needed change through small steps. Together, we bring the ocean into our hearts and give each individual the opportunity to participate in a great movement that will save the oceans and their inhabitants. The message is: "Together we can do it!" Focal points: - Kids save Ocean; 5m whale made of plastic bottles - Save the turtles; Waste separation game for the youngest - Moving garbage vortex - Hans Hass corner with model of his research ship XARIFA - The path from plastic into the sea - Rotating wheels to playfully convey how plastic gets into the sea for the youngest - Our craft ideas for download via QR code, so that plastic does not necessarily have to end up in the garbage

Responsible Diving

How you can become an Eco-conscious Diver.

6 Tips for

Eco-conscious Diving

Tip #1: Do Not Touch Marine Life!

Take Only Photos, Leave Only Bubbles

Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of your dive, but please leave seashell souvenirs where they belong and avoid touching marine life. Pro eco-diver tip: Refrain from buying seashells, shark teeth, or other marine life souvenirs.

Tip #2: Be Mindful of Coral Reefs!

Use Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Many regular sunscreens contain oxybenzone and octinoxate—chemicals that contribute to coral bleaching. Reef-safe sunscreens, usually zinc-based, are a safer alternative that does not harm corals. Be sure to stock up on reef-safe sunscreen before heading to tropical destinations. Sunscreen tip: Look for sunscreens made with zinc oxide as the main ingredient.

Tip #3: Master Your Buoyancy

Control Your Buoyancy

As an eco-conscious diver, strive to perfect your buoyancy on every dive. Good buoyancy control helps conserve air, making your dive more relaxed and enjoyable while also preventing accidental contact with the reef and marine life. Be especially mindful of your buoyancy when navigating swim-throughs.

Tip #4: Eat Sustainably

Choose Sustainable Seafood or Reduce Seafood Consumption

Consider reducing your intake of seafood and meat. If you do eat seafood, choose locally sourced, sustainably caught options and consult sustainable seafood guides. Opt for land-based foods grown without harmful fertilizers, and whenever possible, eat locally and organically.

Tip #5: Take Action!

Participate in Clean-Up Events

Joining or organizing clean-up events is a fun and effective way to protect aquatic environments. While beach clean-ups are the most common, cleaning lakes, rivers, and streams also plays a crucial role in keeping our oceans healthy. Great locations for a clean-up: Beaches, lakes, rivers, and streams.

Tip #6: Spread the Word!

Educate and Inspire Others

Lead by example—adopt and promote sustainable diving habits. Share knowledge and resources through conversations, workshops, or social media to raise awareness and encourage positive change within the diving community. Small actions can lead to a big impact!
