Lake Michigan is popular for its wreck diving. So much that it now has multiple underwater preserves, which help protect the shipwrecks. Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve is home to fantastic dive sites like The Metropolis, a schooner that sank in 1886, and The Yuba, which rests in only 15 feet of water offering an easy dive. Manitou Passage Underwater Preserve is one of the best and most popular places for diving in this region.
