Diving in Grand Baie

Grand Baie (Grand Bay) is a coastal village in the north of Mauritius. This is a preferred diving destination, famous for its pristine beaches, water activities and its nightlife. If you’re looking for a romantic getaway this is the place. Along with many deluxe hotels and budget-friendly apartments, the resort town is also a hub for shopping and dining. Around 20 different dive sites can be found in the region. Whether it’s your first dive or you’re an advanced diver, this site offers something for everything. Grand Baie has many jaw-dropping landscapes and idyllic beaches. Grand Baie has an exceptionally varied marine life with different types and colours of corals, pelagic and reef fish species such as scorpionfish, groupers and angelfish. The most common encounters include friendly dolphins and sharks. Shark diving is a popular attraction in this place. You can’t miss a visit to Holt Rock, which is an excellent place with big boulders and filled with volcanic rocks and corals, considered the best diving spot in all of Grand Baie. Depths can reach up to 30 meters in some areas (98.4 feet). The best time of year to visit is from September to April when you will find the best diving conditions.
