Simpson Rock

A sea pinnacle. Small exposed area of the rock which continues its steep shape underwater until around 20-30 meters where it has a small platform. At the edge of the platform, it drops off to 60 + meters. Roughly 20-30 minutes to circle the rock underwater. Extremely exposed to currents and rough sea conditions.

Little Cave Bay

A little bay on the Southwestern point of Fanal Island. Easy diving in good conditions, Shallow area at top of reef with gradual slopes of rocky kelp reef to sandy bottom around 30 meters. Small cave in corner of the bay gives it its’ name, but is hardly worth diving. Suitable for all divers when conditions allow.

Ngatamahine Point

Depths from 0 m to 40+ m. Large rock faces and valleys in and around them. Exposed and can have swell or tidal currents. Wall drop off quickly, watch your depths.

The Plateau

The plateau depth around 6 to 10m large semi circle shelf . The back of the shelf is rock and large kelp bed at its mouth, around its wall.The wall drops sharply to 22-25m then slopes away to 32m , made of boulders mainly. The wall curves back around into the bay.There are also plenty of pinnacles to explore.

Hammerhead

The reef is laid out as a series of fingers running from shallow water 10m to approximately 22 m at their deepest. Comprising of a rocky face in the shallows and turning into large kelp beds as it deepens. There are several swim through and a small arch at the end of the reef on one finger.

Te Hua Point

Depth ranges from 0m - 30m. Rocks off of Te Hue Point. Some rocks exposes to surface with other hidden rocks just under the surface. Interesting bottom topography, block-like rocks and structures. Plateaus with lots of fish and kelp.

Te Titoki Point

Not an ideal dive spot. Sandy bottom with little changing terrain. Gradual drop off from beach until quick sandy drop off to 40+ meters. Little to no rocks.

Leigh Reef

lots of current on moving tide, best dived around slack tide and good conditions. Advisable to have a good boat person on the surface, this can be a busy area with fishing in summer.

Tabletop Reef

Tabletop Reef is a beautiful dive site that has quite a range of features the inner part of the reef system features steep bommies that drop down to the sandy bottom at around 10 meters. As you follow the reef North it flattens out to a kelp and sponge garden eventually reaching a sand flat at roughly 20 meters.

The Outpost

The Outpost is a great dive site with various attractions. It ranges from a sheltered bay to steep walls that are filled with life. It is best to dive from a boat, however, it is possible to do this as a shore dive with a long surface swim from Leigh.
