Neru Faru - Hilton Maldives Amingiri Housereef

What seems to be a rather “unspectacular” sandbank reveals itself as a very pretty dive site. Having said that, sandbanks are never really unspectacular in the Maldives but you wouldn’t expect a very pretty wall ranging from 3 to 30 meters when looking at the pristine white sand on top of the reef.

The dive site is of round shape and can be defined as a classical Maldivian thila – a submerged pinnacle. The top reef is located at 4 meters which makes it easy to descent to for all experience levels.

Underwater Habitat created by Sub Oceanic at Hilton Maldives is a unique project under the lead of our Resident Marine Biologist Mohamed Abaan better know as “Bunny“ .

Located a 10-minute boat ride north-east of Hilton Maldives Amingiri, Mas Giri is one of our must-see dive sites if you like beautiful marine life. Pretty much all tropical reef fish that are home in the Maldives can be found on Mas Giri.

It is safe to say that Ahmedbe Thila is more a fish soup than a reef. Starting from 8 meters the reef slope gently down to all sides except towards the ocean. Uthuru Faru is Dhivehi and refers to North Reef as it is located at the north end of a bigger lagoon. Facing Hilton Maldives Amigiri on one end and the open Ocean to it’s west, makes this premium dive site and ideal location to spot almost anything the Indian Ocean has to offer...

Amin Faru is the barrier reef of Amingiri facing the open ocean which is often simply referred to as outside reef. It’s starts from around 5 meters and drops down several 100 meters in several stages...

Uthuru Ethere Faru translated from the Maldivian language Dhivehi and translates in English as “Northern Inside Reef“. The site features a sandy slope that transitions into an almost vertical drop-off, scattered with coral blocks and vibrant blue and green sponges teeming with marine life.

Located just north of Hilton Maldives Amingiri. This dive site is situated in the backdrop of a channel and just east of our dive site Hulangu Kandu. Due to its location strong currents can affect it. The site consists of a thila with three top reefs at 3 meters. The sandy bottom lies at around 20 to 30 meters.

Laguna Matata is as the name suggests the Lagoon of Happiness. The happiness there is simply provided by colorful coral block in all huge variety of shapes and an abundant marine life.
