Diving in North Guam
Many marine preserves and wrecks are located on the northern end of the island of Guam. This island alone has three aquatic preserves: Pati Point Marine Preserve, which is located at the very northern tip of the island, Tumon Bay Marine Preserve, which is an excellent spot for shore diving, and Pit Bomb Holes Marine Preserve, which is an awesome cavern dive site, that was once thought to be bomb craters. Over the years, the underwater limestone in North Guam, has created amazing caves and swim-throughs. Dive into the warm, crystal-clear waters of Guam to encounter abundant marine life. You can arrive at most dive sites by boat; however, you will also find plenty of shore dive sites. One spot for shore diving is Gun Beach on Tumon Bay, where most hotels are located, making diving here very easy and accessible for tourists. Guam is famous for its history and abundance of shipwrecks. You will find the most famous wreck dive site of all Guam in Apra Harbor. Diving in Apra Harbor, towards the center of the island, you can explore most of Guam’s shipwrecks, all within a few minutes of each other; this site is the only place in the world where a set of WWI and WWII shipwrecks, the SMS Cormoran and the Tokai Maru, sit right next to each other underwater.
