Diving in Ecuador

Found on the northwest corner of South America, Ecuador is a unique country indeed. Both culturally and geographically diverse, Ecuador’s official language is Spanish though 13 Amerindian languages are also recognized. This beautiful country is easily accessible through its capital city, Quito, with international flights daily. Ecuador is most famous for the Galapagos Islands that lie 600 miles from the Pacific Coast and are reached either by domestic flight from either Quito or Guayaquil into Baltra or San Cristobal Island.

Ecuador, named after the equator that runs right through it, has four distinct geographic zones: the Andes mountains, the Amazon rainforest, the coast, and the Galapagos Archipelago. Ecuador derives its strong cultural background from its Incan history. The warmth of its people paired with fantastic scenery, excellent cuisine, and renowned diving, makes Ecuador a great travel destination. Scuba diving in Ecuador is easily some of the best diving in the world. Although there are good mainland dives, scuba diving the Galapagos Islands is what it’s all about. At the top of every avid diver’s bucket list, these islands are unlike any other place on earth.
