Diving in Kauai
Kauai is an island with a laid-back atmosphere. This paradise is best known for its numerous lava tube dives like the Tunnels Reef, where you’ll witness spectacular lava formations as well as white tip reef sharks, lots of turtles, and plenty of fish. Dramatic volcanic remnants can also be seen by adventurers at Koloa Landing, Stone House, and Brennecke’s Ledge. The north and south sides of the island are spectacular places to go shore diving. Hop on a dive charter that will take you 17 miles (27 kilometers) offshore to the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, Niihau; this ancient island is worth the trip. Diving in this privately-owned island will make you feel impressed by the biodiversity and geography you will encounter, as they are like nothing you’ve ever seen.
