Diving in Inland New York
According to locals, New York offers some of the best diving in the world. Bring your thickest wetsuit or your drysuit, as water may be cold. Visibility is also really high, sometimes it’s clear up to 30 meters (100 feet). St. Lawrence River and Great Lakes were the first navigable waterways in the New World, so they have plenty of well-preserved wrecks. “Finger Lakes” is a series of long, skinny lakes in central New York; in this place, you will find one of the best freshwater dive sites in the area, Red Hook Wall. Lakes Erie and Ontario are two must-visit dive spots, which have some of the best preserved underwater wrecks in the world.
