Güímar: A hotspot for underwater photography - competition winners announced!

Open Fotosub Tenerife Güímar 2015 have been announced. Now in its sixth year, the competition had taken place on the Canary Island of Tenerife. This year, the quality of the photo and video entries had been more than exemplary.

From 23 October to 8 November 2015, a total of 36 teams from different countries had descended upon Güímar on the island of Tenerife to show off their skills by capturing scenes from the underwater world there. Once again, the festival has proven itself to be the largest of its kind in the Canary Islands.

Frank Pöcze, Technical Director of Ecological Divers Tenerife, had organised this year's contest. He was the person who had first organised the competition years ago. The event also received the support of the mayor of Güímar, the Cabildo de Tenerife and VDST's Department of Visual Media. The main sponsors for this year are Mares and SSI.

Over the course of the competition, Güímar practically became the diving epicenter of the entire Canary Islands. The winners had been chosen on November 14th. In the Photography for Professionals category, Sacha Lobenstein won with team partner Esperanza Guerra Fernandez. In the Photography for Beginners category, the first place was taken by Elio Jose Alberto Quintana with partner Maria Angeles Delgado Perez. In the Video category, Tomas Mesa won with his entry "Matrix".

All submitted entries exhibited exceptional skills, showcasing the unique beauty of the underwater world of Güímar. More details, as well as the winning photos and videos, are available at the event website: www.fotosub-tenerife.com
