Diving in Japan

Located in East Asia, Japan is an island nation consisting of the Japanese archipelago and the Nansei Islands, Izu Islands, and Ogasawara Islands. Japan is famous for being a very safe and clean country with a rich culture and strong economy. Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is a major city of pop culture and production of electronics.

Japan covers an area of 3,000 km with a colder climate in the north and a warmer, milder climate in the south. Within this wide area, climate and water temperature can vary greatly from region to region. As a result, each region has its own unique ecosystem, offering a wide variety of scuba dives from ice diving in Hokkaido to tropical diving in Okinawa. There are also great freshwater environments such as lakes and rivers with abundant caves and shipwrecks to explore. Japan is famous for its four distinct seasons on land, but divers can also experience these seasons underwater as well.
