Diving in Sharm El Sheikh

To the northeast of Hurghada, the Red Sea splits into the Gulf of Suez which breaks northwest towards Egypt and the Gulf of Aqaba which slants to the northeast towards Saudi Arabia. In between these two Gulfs is the Sinai Peninsula. Sharm El Sheikh is a city that sits on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, on the Red Sea. Its name is not only synonymous with dreamy beaches and luxury resorts, it is also a great dive destination with around 30 dive sites accessible on day excursions and a whole variety of liveaboards departing from here to explore sites that are further afield. Whatever you love to dive, you’ll find it here, from dazzling reefs to dramatic walls and even wrecks. In some places the currents can be strong, and the area has become really popular for its range of drift dives. But if you want to simply step off the sands into the water, there are some shore dives available too. If you’re looking to combine your diving with other activities, you won’t be short of them in Sharm El Sheik, where you can also enjoy windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, and even sky diving or parachuting from helicopters.
