For many divers, the ocean does not end when the dive is over. Long after the gear is rinsed and the wetsuit is hung to dry, the experience stays with us. We replay the dive in our minds and start planning the next adventure before the current one is even finished. Later, we scroll through photos of turtles, reef sharks, and coral walls. We message our buddies about that incredible moment underwater and wonder how soon we can go on our next dive.
That is exactly why the MySSI app has become such an important part of the diving experience. It keeps your dive log, certification cards, and training together in one place, creating a digital home for the memories, progress, and plans that keep you connected to the water between dives.
SSI is preparing to give that digital home a fresh new look. The major MySSI app update will bring simpler navigation, new social features, and smarter tools that make it easier to move from checking a certification card to logging a dive or finding your next course.

Over the years, the MySSI app has grown into a place divers return to before a trip, between dives, and after the gear is packed away. They already use it to:
- Access digital certifications
- Complete digital training materials
- Log dives
- Track marine life sightings
- Store gear information
- Connect with dive buddies
- Track SSI Awards
- Read current dive news
- Discover dive centers and events worldwide
The app supports scuba diving, freediving, Extended Range, rebreather diving, mermaiding, swimming, and more. For many divers, it has become something they simply never dive without. As diving and technology keep moving forward, the MySSI app is changing with the way divers train, log dives, and stay connected.
The first difference appears as soon as you open the updated app. The start page has a completely refreshed look, with a cleaner layout that makes important features easier to see and reach.
Instead of feeling crowded or overly technical, the start page now feels more focused and intuitive, built around how divers use it in the real world. You can check a certification card before a dive trip, log yesterday's dive, search for your next course, or browse wildlife sightings without having to think about which menu comes next.
The "More" menu has also been simplified and reorganized, helping you find what you need without digging through layers of navigation.
The Dive Wizard may be the feature you appreciate most at the end of a full dive day.
You know the feeling: the gear still needs rinsing, everyone is swapping stories, and you think, "I will log these later." After several dives, entering every detail can feel like one more job waiting for you when all you really want to do is relive the best moments.
That is where the Dive Wizard in the MySSI app comes in. Built specifically for scuba diving, it shortens the logging process so you can capture the important details while the site, the conditions, and the moments you do not want to forget are still fresh in your mind.
In a dive log app, depth and time tell only part of the story. The buddy name, wildlife sighting, and GPS location are often what bring the whole dive back to life. The MySSI digital logbook makes it easy to record all of these details, creating a personal record of where you have been underwater, who shared the dive with you, and the moments that still return long after you surface.
Those records can also support ocean research. Learn how SSI dive logs can support ocean science by turning diver observations and wildlife sightings into useful data.
The update also gives you more control over how those memories appear. Divers will be able to choose from different logbook display styles, including:
- Standard view
- Simple view
- Image-focused view
- Compact view
You might want every piece of dive data in view, prefer to let an underwater photo take center stage, or simply need a clean overview you can scan in seconds. The new display options let the logbook match the way you like to remember a dive.
The ability to upload images has already changed the MySSI digital logbook from a record of dates, depths, and locations into a visual archive of your underwater life. Open an old log and the turtle, reef, or buddy in the photo can bring the whole dive rushing back.
The update takes that experience further by allowing you to share logged dives directly to social media. The story no longer has to stay inside the logbook, and it becomes easier to keep swapping dive stories with your buddies after everyone has left the water.
MySSI app users have long been able to track SSI Awards as their training and dive experience grow. With the update, they will also be able to share challenge awards and achievements directly to social media, giving divers a new way to mark their progress and inspire others.
An SSI Award may appear as a badge on the screen, but behind it are the skills you practiced, the confidence you gained, and the dives that brought you to that point. The update gives you an easy way to celebrate that progress with friends and the wider diving community.
SSI's new AI Navigation Tool gives you a simpler way to move through the app. Instead of searching through menus, you can ask for what you need, whether that is your digital certification card, a specialty program, your dive log, or the place to update your profile.
The tool then suggests a direct link to the right area, so you can go straight to the certification card, dive log, or profile setting you need.
The redesigned Profile Area gathers the different parts of your diving identity in one place, including:
- Certification cards
- Awards and achievements
- Dive buddies
- Profile settings
- Personal statistics
- Recognition levels
Together, these features make the Profile Area feel like an underwater resume, dive journal, and community hub combined.
Think about everything that happens around a single dive. Before the boat leaves, you may pull up a certification card. Back on shore, you log the site, add the photo that brings the whole dive back, and message the buddy who shared it. The updated MySSI app brings those moments together instead of leaving them scattered across different screens, notes, and apps.
The redesign is meant to keep your training, dives, memories, and community close while giving you:
- Faster access to the tools you use most
- More ways to personalize your logbook and profile
- More visual ways to revisit and share dives
- Easier ways to celebrate progress and stay connected with the SSI community
The cleaner layout also helps new divers find their way around from the first tap. Whether you are logging your 500th dive, preparing for your first certification, tracking marine life sightings, uploading underwater photos, or sharing a milestone with friends, the app keeps the practical side of diving close to the memories that make you want to return to the water.
The dive still begins underwater, but the MySSI app keeps your memories, progress, and community close long after you surface.
Whether you already use it or are opening it for the first time, the new design brings your training, certifications, dives, memories, and community closer together.
You can explore the MySSI app and create a free account, download MySSI from the Apple App Store, or get MySSI on Google Play. The free SSI diving app keeps the tools you need before a trip, between dives, and after you surface in one place.
