Mission Deep Blue - by SSI and Sharkproject

The oceans are sick

SharkprojectThe reasons for this are overfishing, garbage, noise, oil extraction and other dangers to our environment. It the fault of humankind, as we mindlessly interfere in this fragile ecosystem.

From the surface, the oceans seem to be healthy, but we as divers know how it looks down below in the blue. We realize perhaps more than anyone that time is running out.

If we want to save our oceans for ourselves and our children, we at Scuba Schools International (SSI), one of the world's largest diving organizations, have to take the initiative now. Our answer is:

Mission Deep Blue

We can't rely on big words and petitions - we all must actively intervene to protect our oceans. Mission Deep Blue should immediately get involved in a very noticeable way, and we know this will not be easy. We are prepared for a long and hard road ahead, and we want to take it together with you.

SSI is comprised of around 2,500 Dive Centers worldwide, issuing over 40 million diver certifications in the last ten years alone. That would make for a “blue army” of sorts for the oceans, if we can get active together.

Each of you can create an impact by behaving "environmental friendly". Just check the OCEAN RANGER Statement!

As a diving organization, we are not necessarily environmental experts, so we are looking for help. Our partner has to think as we do, should have experience, contacts, and should guarantee us that no donations are wasted in pompous administrative mechanisms.

For this partner, we found Sharkproject International, an organization that many of you already know. With over ten years of experience, Sharkproject International is one of the leading voluntary and active marine protection organizations worldwide. But the name “Sharkproject” can be deceiving, since the organization does not only care for the protection of sharks. They know as well as we all do that marine protection should not be for a single species, but for the enter ocean as a whole. It was recently awarded the Donation Seal of Approval from the Central Institute for Social Concerns (DZI) in Germany for especially commendable organizations.

Together with Sharkproject International, we will start by launching 4 campaign missions:

Join us and become an OCEAN RANGER at one of the official RANGER STATIONS!
