Nagato. was a super-dreadnought battleship built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Completed in 1920 and was a length of 201.17 meters. In 1946, the ship was a target for nuclear weapon tests during Operation Crossroads.

USS Saratoga (CV-3) was an aircraft carrier built for the US Navy in the 1920’s. She was surplus to postwar requirements and was assigned to Operation Crossroads in 1946. Operation Crossroads was a test conducted at Bikini Atoll to evaluate the effect of the atomic bomb on ships.

The town of Onagawa, on the Sanriku coast of Miyagi Prefecture, is designated as a national park. The tsunami severely damaged the area, but it is now recovering strongly. There is a fishing area off Jinghwasan where the Oyashio and Kuroshio currents collide, and both cold and warm currents occur at the dive site. It is also interesting to enjoy diving with fixed nets, oysters, and sea squirt shelves.

The water quality has been the highest in Japan for five years in a row and the clarity is high, reaching 50 meters from January to June. You can also go ice diving during January to March. You can do a river drift dive into the river that drains from the lake.

It’s the furthest offshore dive site in the state of Hawaii and since there are no moorings to tie up to and currents can be strong this dive is always done as a live boat dive. This dive is for advanced divers only.

The town of Usushiri in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, is an ocean with an excellent ecological balance and biodiversity. The water temperature drops to 2 degrees Celsius at its lowest point, but rises to 21 degrees Celsius in the summer, making it a great place to dive all year round.
