Diving in Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur

Some of the best scuba diving in France is along the French Riviera, France’s southern coastline, officially known as the Alpes-Cote d’Azur Province. With fantastic visibility, warm Mediterranean climate, and water temperatures reaching 25C in the summer, scuba diving in Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur is a wonderful experience.

The Alpes-Cote d’Azur is home to the largest concentration of dive sites in France. The azure blue waters provide excellent visibility (20-25 m) and pleasant water temperatures (18-26 C), making diving available all throughout the year. In fact, the water is warm enough to dive in a thinner wetsuit until November.

Since shallow reefs filled with marine life fill the Alpes-Cote d’Azur coastline, this area is the perfect location for beginners and less experienced divers. This Mediterranean stretch offers areas where deeper diving is accessible for more experienced divers to enjoy, plus Cote d’Azur is home to some excellent wreck diving. There are many technical diving opportunities here as well due to the depth of several dive sites.

You can find Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur dive centers all along the coast offering daily boat and shore dives. Some of the best dive sites are wreck dives and include Rubis Submarine and Togo shipwrecks. You can find stunning topography near Frejus and Saint Raphael with large pinnacles and long plateaus full of rich marine life.

Hidden in the reef’s crevices, you can see octopuses, lobsters, shrimp, and brilliant nudibranchs.
