Wildlife in Lower Austria

The underwater life here at Niederosterreich is typical of that found in dive-friendly Austria. Depending on the area you can experience the following types of fish while diving: pike-perch, pike, catfish, sturgeon, trench, char, carp, Danube salmon, trout, perch, bream, grayling, and eel. Beautiful underwater landscapes invite divers to explore. While Lunzer Obersee is a water basin formed at the end of the last ice age, it is completely different from all other lakes in the region and is not recommended for scuba divers due to its spooky yellow-green waters. But the lakes Lunzner See, Erlaufsee and Achensee are highly recommended and approved as dive sites for adventurous and exciting underwater explorations.
