Lifeguards have two primary responsibilities; preventing accidents and saving lives. For some, lifeguarding is a fun and exciting job or part-time work. Others join professional water safety teams and lifeguarding becomes a full-time career.

LIFEGUARD LEVELS
The SSI Lifeguard program will teach you to supervise the safety and rescue of swimmers, surfers or other water sports enthusiasts. It has 4 levels and a combination of classes designed to START your training.
Water safety Attendant

is part of a water safety team and supports a Lifeguard by performing duties like reaching and shallow water assists
Pool Lifeguard

is responsible for monitoring the pool facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid to swimmers
Inland Open Water Lifeguard

is responsible for the safety of people in an area of water usually defined immediately surrounding or adjacent to a lake and river
Beach Lifeguard

is responsible for patrolling beaches to monitor activities of swimmers to detect hazardous conditions
