Story:
IN 1962 TONY WAS TOLD BY HIS DAD THAT HE COULD NOT TAKE SCUBA CLASSES. WHEN HE TURNED 18 IN 1965 HE STARTED DIVING WITH FRIENDS AND IN 1970 WAS CERTIFIED UNDER NASDS. HE BECAME A YMCA AND PADI INSTRUCTOR. FROM 1972-1978 HE WAS THE TRAINING DIRECTOR FOR THE BUFFALO AQUA CLUB WHERE HE CERTIFIED OTHER DIVERS. HE DECIDED TO BECOME A DIVE RETAILER SINCE OTHER SHOPS WERE NOT SERVICING HIS STUDENTS PROPERLY. IN THE LATE 80'S HE BECAME A NASDS INSTRUCTOR AND IN 1992 HE GOT HIS DIVE CON WITH SSI AND TRAINER IN 1994. NOW TONY AND HIS WIFE CAROLE OWN AND OPERATE PHOENIX SCUBA AND WATER SPORTS IN NY. THEY WORK WITH THEIR LOCAL MAKE A WISH, THEY ARE CHAPTERS OF THE DIVE PIRATES FOUNDATION AND ARE BADGE COUNSELORS FOR THE BOY SCOTT MERIT BADGE PROGRAM. TONY AND CAROLE INITIATED THE NATIONAL "FIRST DIVE" PROGRAM FOR THE ORTHOTIC AND PROSTHETIC ASSISTANCE FUND IN 2007.AS FAR AS TONY'S FAVORITE EXPERIENCES ARE STILL THOSE THAT HE INTRODUCES HIS PASSION OF SCUBA DIVING TO FOR THE FIRST TIME, PARTICULARLY IF THEY ARE DISABLED.
